Israeli forces have wounded more than 200 Palestinians in a series of large-scale raids on the West Bank governorate of Tubas, part of a major offensive on northern areas of the occupied territory that began on Wednesday. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that 78 of the wounded required hospital treatment. After withdrawing from Tammun and the Far’a refugee camp, Israeli soldiers shifted their operations to Tubas city and the nearby villages of Aqqaba and Tayaseer.

Local officials said nearly 200 Palestinians were detained over the last four days during these raids, with most interrogated and released on site. However, at least eight were taken to Israeli military prisons. Separate raids in Qalqilya, Jenin and Nablus resulted in at least nine additional arrests, including two children and a woman detained at dawn in Qalqilya. Military incursions and settler attacks have surged since October 2023, averaging 47 raids per day in November.

The mayor of Tammun described this week’s raids as the most destructive the town has faced in years, with more than 1.5km of roads dug up, water networks destroyed, property vandalised and residents beaten. These actions mirror widespread destruction seen in other West Bank towns targeted by Israeli forces. In Jenin refugee camp, Israeli bulldozers are preparing to demolish at least 23 more homes, claiming it is necessary to ensure “freedom of movement” for soldiers, even though most families have already been displaced.

The 23 condemned homes in Jenin belonged to 340 Palestinians, but only 47 mostly women, were briefly allowed to collect belongings. Many residents struggled to recognise their own houses due to the extensive damage. A member of the Jenin Refugee Camp Services Committee said families were given only two hours to salvage possessions amid devastation caused by ongoing Israeli assaults.

Armed groups, including the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, said their fighters responded during raids in Jenin and Tubas by targeting Israeli soldiers and military vehicles with explosive devices. Since October 2023, Israeli forces have killed at least 1,086 Palestinians in the West Bank, including 223 children, and wounded more than 10,662 people. Over 20,500 Palestinians have been detained, with 9,204 currently imprisoned, 3,368 of them held without charge. Deaths in Israeli custody have also risen sharply, with at least 94 documented since October 2023.
