Hamas strongly rejects accusations from the US State Department that it plans to attack its own citizens in Gaza. In an official statement on Sunday (19/10), Hamas deemed the accusations baseless and part of misleading propaganda spread by Israel. According to Hamas, the statement actually gives Israel a “political umbrella” to continue its aggression against the Palestinian people.

Earlier, on Saturday evening local time, the US claimed to have received “credible reports” that Hamas would violate the ceasefire by attacking Gaza residents. The US government also said it would take steps to protect residents and maintain the ceasefire if the attack occurred. However, the US did not provide further details about the sources or evidence for the reports on which the allegations were based.

In response, Hamas accused Israel of forming, arming, and funding armed groups that have recently caused chaos in Gaza. These groups are said to be responsible for various crimes such as murder, kidnapping, looting of humanitarian aid, and attacks on civilians. Hamas claims that evidence of this has even been broadcast by the Israeli media itself.

Hamas stated that security forces in Gaza are currently conducting operations to crack down on criminals with the support of the local community. This step is being taken to maintain security and order in the region. Hamas also urges the US to stop repeating what it considers to be a misleading narrative and instead pressure Israel to stop violating the ceasefire, including protecting armed groups under its control.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said he would consider allowing Israel to continue its military operations in Gaza if Hamas is deemed to be in violation of the ceasefire agreement. This mutual accusation between Hamas, Israel, and the US comes amid the fragile situation in Gaza following the war over the past two years. Amid reconstruction efforts and international monitoring, accusations from Washington are considered to have the potential to worsen tensions and give Israel a reason to resume military operations in the region.
