Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly set to discuss with US President Donald Trump steps to achieve the war aims in Gaza while expanding the circle of peace in the region. US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steven Witkoff said there was a chance for a “breakthrough” after Trump offered a 21-point plan.

Israeli media said Netanyahu would emphasize the importance of achieving the war objectives and expanding the normalization of relations with regional countries. The Yedioth Ahronoth daily also quoted Netanyahu as saying he would discuss “the great opportunity presented by Israel's victory and the need to achieve the war objectives.”

However, a report by Maariv revealed a different input from the Israeli military. They urged Netanyahu to immediately agree to a ceasefire and the release of prisoners, taking into account the conditions on the ground. The military and the Shin Bet intelligence agency assessed that Hamas had made the kidnapping of Israeli soldiers the main target of its operations, so troops on the ground were asked to be more vigilant.

Meanwhile, Witkoff emphasized that Trump had offered the Trump Peace Plan for the Middle East and Gaza, which contained 21 points. The plan was presented during a meeting with Arab and Muslim leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. According to him, the plan could address Israel's concerns as well as the concerns of neighboring countries.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with US support, has waged a war that many have called a form of extermination against Gaza. The latest data from the Gaza Ministry of Health states that the attacks have killed 65,382 Palestinians, injured around 167,000 people, and caused massive destruction to infrastructure.
