The Maariv daily released poll results showing that a majority of Israelis are becoming concerned about the growing international recognition of Palestine. The survey also noted a decline in public confidence in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

About 63 percent of Israelis expressed concern over the wave of recognition by countries around the world of Palestinian independence. Meanwhile, 59 percent of respondents were concerned that Israel would be excluded from global sporting and cultural events as a form of international sanctions for its aggression in Gaza.

The survey also revealed increasing public support for ending the war in Gaza. A total of 53 percent of respondents agreed that the war should be stopped and that the government should focus more on repatriating Israeli citizens who are still being held in Gaza. The same number also supported the peace proposal put forward by US President Donald Trump, including the formation of a transitional government in Gaza under international supervision.

On the other hand, public confidence in Netanyahu continues to decline. Last week's survey showed that 52 percent of respondents no longer trust Netanyahu, while 44 percent still support him. This decline was triggered by Netanyahu's decision to continue military operations in Gaza and his warnings about the risk of diplomatic isolation.

The poll results also show a shift in Israel's political landscape. If elections were held today, Netanyahu's right-wing coalition would only win 49 seats, while the opposition bloc is predicted to win 61 seats—enough to form a government without the support of Arab parties, which are expected to win 10 seats.
