A total of 13 of the 44 ships belonging to the Global Sumud Flotilla were reportedly seized by the Israeli navy while sailing towards the Gaza Strip. The flotilla was attempting to break through the Israeli blockade, which has been in place for almost two decades. The seized ships were carrying dozens of international activists, and the Israeli military ordered them to be diverted to the port of Ashdod in southern Israel.

According to the Sumud Fleet organizers via Telegram, Israeli forces acted aggressively towards the participating ships. The Florida was reportedly the victim of a deliberate collision, while the Yulara, Mytik, and several others were sprayed with high-pressure hoses. This situation demonstrates Israel's desperate attempts to stop the humanitarian mission.

Israeli media Channel 13 reported that six ships had been seized, and the takeover operation was expected to continue until Thursday (2/10). However, organizers said the fate of the crew and activists on board the ships remained unclear. They also confirmed that a number of participants, including Al Jazeera Mubasher journalist Hayat Al-Yamani, had been arrested on the Sirius ship.

Previously, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority (KAN) said that naval forces had boarded several ships to take full control. This action took place after around 20 Israeli warships surrounded the fleet, causing communication between ships to be cut off. The Sumud fleet increased its alertness, anticipating a wider interception.

Despite facing intimidation and warnings from Israel, as well as calls from several European countries to halt the journey, the organizers remain committed to continuing their aid mission to Gaza. They view this journey as a crucial humanitarian effort to challenge the prolonged blockade that is suffocating the lives of Gaza's population.
