Malaysian Army Chief of Staff General Muhammad Hafizuddeain has expressed his readiness to join the peacekeeping mission in Gaza if requested. This was announced after the closing of the 14th Indo-Pacific Army Chiefs of Staff Conference on Thursday (9/26/2025).

Hafizuddeain emphasized that the decision to send troops remains in the hands of the Malaysian government. The main considerations are the effectiveness and security of the mission to be carried out.

Malaysia itself has extensive experience in peacekeeping operations since 1960, including in Congo, Somalia, Bosnia, and Cambodia. This statement came after Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto expressed his readiness to send up to 20,000 soldiers as part of a multilateral force if approved by the UN.

Meanwhile, Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 2023 have killed more than 65,500 Palestinians, the majority of whom are women and children. These conditions have made Gaza almost uninhabitable, with the threat of starvation and disease spreading.
